The Kurdistan Regional Government strongly condemns the explosion that occurred in front of the headquarters of Erbil Governorate at midday today. Casualties include 4 martyred and 29 injured.

The Kurdistan Regional Government offers its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured.

The Kurdistan Region’s security units immediately began their investigation.  

We urge the people of Erbil and throughout the Kurdistan Region to remain steadfast in their high level of shared vigilance and responsibility for security.

We reassure all citizens and guests that the Kurdistan Region's security forces remain at the highest level of alert.  Such incidents are rare and indeed tragic. They do not frighten us and will not interrupt our efforts to continue developing and strengthening our Region.
