Prime Minister Barzani continues meetings with world leaders on the last day of MSC

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Kurdistan Regional Government senior delegation, led by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani continued its meetings on the sidelines of the last day of Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Prime Minister Barzani met the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation.

In the meeting they discussed the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran and means to strengthen them in all fields.

They also discussed Prime Minister Barzani’s recent visit to Tehran, the current regional political situation and the talks between Erbil and Baghdad. They stressed the need to settle all outstanding disputes within the framework of the Iraqi constitution.

Prime Minister Barzani also met the United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura.

In the meeting they discussed the situation in Syria, latest developments in the region, ways to engage peaceful resolutions, international efforts to find solutions to the Syrian crisis in order to restore security and stability for the Syrian people and its communities.

Both sides agreed that it is necessary to solve the issues of the region in general and especially in Syria in peaceful ways, guaranteeing the rights of all the components of the Syrian people, including the Kurdish people.

They also discussed the recent Turkish incursion in Afrin province, and the issue of the protection of civilians in Syria.

Dr. Fuad Hussein, Chief of Staff to the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Falah Mustafa, the Head of Department of Foreign Relations, Dilshad Barzani, representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Germany accompanied Prime Minister Barzani in today’s meetings in Munich.
