KRG Leader meets officials from around the world for the second day in Davos

Prime Minister Barzani and Secretary Tillerson

Erbil- Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani continued his meetings for the second day in Davos on Thursday. 

Prime Minister Barzani met separately with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway, and Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon  in the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. 

In a meeting with the United States Secretary of State, Prime Minister Barzani stated his appreciation to the United States for supporting the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region. He also briefed Mr. Rex Tillerson on the latest developments in negotiations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi authorities. 

Kurdistan leader also met with Mr. Geert Bourgeois, the Minister-President of Flanders and Flemish Minister of Foreign Policy.  Both leaders reiterated their support to further develop their relations, especially economic and investment ties.

In a meeting with German's Federal Minister of Defense, Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Barzani thanked Germany's continued support to the Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani, Chief of Staff to the Kurdistan Region Presidency Fuad Hussien, Minister of Natural Resources Ashti Hawrami and the Head of Department of Foreign Relations Falah Mustafa are accompanying Prime Minister Barzani in his visit to Davos.
